Red flags, refer urgently
- Severe abdominal pain or persistent vomiting
- Bleeding gums, skin or per rectum
- Sudden drop in platelets with rising Hct
What to tell the patient
"Dengue usually settles in 5–7 days with fluids and rest. Avoid ibuprofen or aspirin. If you get severe pain, vomiting, bleeding or pass less urine, come back immediately."
